A SECTION of the Mooloolah Logging Area may yet become a home for Sunshine Coast motorcycle sports depending on the outcome of a meeting to be held this week.

Suncoast Junior Motorcycle Club will meet with State Government officials to determine if the 570ha site, rejected last Thursday as unsuitable for the location of a regional-scale, multi-discipline motorcycle park, has sufficient land to cater for its long-term future.

The club has 600 members and is based at Quanda Park, outside Coolum, but is expected to come under increasing pressure from expanding urban development to its north.

Club spokesman and Motorcycling Queensland board member Brian Cordwell said the club had been working with Sunshine Coast Council and the State Government over the past six years in an attempt to secure its future in the long term.

The lease of its current base has been extended to 2020 but Mr Cordwell said his aim was to secure a base that his grandchildren may eventually be able to use. …
