NOT much has changed for the small township of Pilliga in the past six months.

If anything, it's drier and dustier, and with no rain on the horizon, farmers are bracing themselves for the possibility of another extended period of drought.

Despite the tough conditions, Fay Galagher and daughter Shirley Steele say they wouldn't live anywhere else.

"It's home," Ms Galagher said of the town located some 100km west of Narrabri.

But Ms Galagher has had her eyes opened to other possibilities after winning a week-long stay at Tracks End Retreat, Waterview Heights.

The prize was part of the support provided to the Pilliga community by the people and businesses of the Clarence Valley.

The Valley community banded together earlier this year to donate 330 bales of stock feed to the battling farmers.

Ms Galagher and her daughter arrived at Tracks End Retreat on Saturday and were immediately struck by the burst of green. …
