MOTHER Nature was kind to club members this week, turning on ideal conditions for the first official summer swim.

The Wainwright family dominated competition and the handicapper will have to sharpen his pencil on a few others, especially Jill Enks who broke her time by an amazing 11 seconds in the 50m heat.

The Stephen Donnelly Explosive Cup was the main event. Finalists were Wilson Burns, Terry Marsh, Jenny Vickery, John Wainwright and Doug Ensbey. With not a lot of handicap separating contestants, a close finish was assured.

Jenny, was first to reach the black line but was extremely unlucky, breaking by only 0.06sec. Next was Doug who was pleased to accept the cup. Marshy and Wilson came in second and third, respectively.

The 50m final was an all-Wainwright affair with Carly, John and Jess all qualifying. Hoping to break the stranglehold of the Wainwrights was Steve Donnelly, David Moon and Whitney Moon. …
