Young Soaks Up Bali; 'Shocker' Heat in QS Event, Free Surfing in Paradise

YAMBA man Jeames Young may have been knocked out of the Komune Keramas Bali Pro in his first heat, but he is not letting that get in the way of his time in tropical Bali.

"I had an absolute shocker in the contest; whoever got the best waves in the heat won and it just wasn't my day," Young said.

"I was bummed but at the same time I came in and instantly I was happy again because I'm in paradise, getting good waves, good food and hanging with great people, so there's nothing to be upset about."

Young said he was surfing a lot in his down time.

"I woke up at 5am, paddled out in the dark and the waves were pumping," Young said.

"I just got in from the surf, sitting on my veranda eating nasi goreng, life couldn't get much better than this right now."

Young only scored an 8.9, which was 7.1 behind heat winner Mitch Parkinson, of Coolangatta, cousin of former world champion Joel Parkinson. …
