Century Lifts Wests to a First-Up Win

BRIAN May took little time in posting the first century of the TCI A grade season as he lifted his Wests team to a round one win against Metropolitan-Easts.

May scored an unbeaten 101 as Wests started the one-day competition with a 26-run victory over last season's one-day finalists at Harristown Park.

Wests batted first and posted 5-234 from their 40 overs thanks to the unbeaten century from captain May.

Nathan Ciesiolka (57) scored a half-century in a 126-run partnership with May, while Matt Hallas (33) also chipped in, while Mets gave up 23 extras.

Opening quick Matt Elford (3-37) was the pick of the bowlers for the Trojans.

Peter Reimers scored 49 at the top of the order for Met-Easts to get the run chase rolling but he couldn't go on and post a half-century.

Neither could Jack Budden (34), Troy Gurski (32) or Dane Budden (31) after all made starts.

Mets were bowled out for 208 in the 38th over.

Dale Samuelsen took 3-31 with the ball for Wests. …
