A FORMER homeless man has admitted groping a teenage girl at a park.

Paul Owen, 38, was so drunk he had no recollection of the sexual assault on June 26, a court was told.

Two teenage girls were sat on a bench on the junction of Corporation Road and Locke Park, near Redcar and Cleveland College, in Redcar, when they were approached by Owen at around 9pm.

Robert Moore, prosecuting, told Teesside Magistrates' Court yesterday the defendant sat next to one of the girls, who was 17 at the time, held her hand and asked her name.

The girl pulled her hand away, but Owen shook her hand, told her he's homeless and said "there is no point living".

Owen then produced a pack of condoms and said 'Do you want some of this?' He went on to assault one of the girls.

When Owen, of Oak Road, Redcar, was arrested, he initially denied the assault but was picked out in an identity parade. …
