Now Is the Time to Boost Business Optimism

HIS year has seen the region power back to health.

The slow, steady progress made throughout the previous year has been turned into burgeoning optimism across the business community, with our Quarterly Economic Survey recording the most positive results we have seen since we started the survey.

Sales are up, orders have increased (both domestic and overseas) and we are seeing more companies invest in recruitment and in their own business than we have for at least the past 10 years.

Our exports performance remains the envy of the rest of the UK, we currently have more people in work than we have at any time in the past and our GVA growth is growing faster than anywhere else in the country.

It is our businesses that are leading the way. They picked up the slack of the public-sector cuts and they are the ones that are turning the positivity and optimism into economic growth. It is our firms that are spearheading the recovery from recession.

The Fastest 50 showcases North East businesses at their best. The ones that have led the way pushed down on the throttle and set the pace across their sectors.

This exciting publication features some of the most innovative and creative firms in our region, most of which will push on and become our large employers and add to the ever-evolving diversity of our regional business base.
