RUGBY LEAGUE: Having lost their chief executive, the Mackay Cutters have announced that coach Kim Williams has re-signed for the 2015 season.

He tested the waters of a move overseas but the 2013 premiership winner said he was happy to take the reins again for next season.

"The club has been very supportive, and I thank them for that," Williams said.

With his future secured, Williams said he was busy signing talent for the Cutters, who finished last year in ninth position.

"I am excited by the new challenges that lay ahead for the Cutters," he said. "We have rebuilt the squad from last year and retained plenty of key players."

The squad has had some informal meetings and players given off-season programs to follow. Official pre-season begins on November 10.

Williams said he would focus on skill development in key positions to improve on the team's standing in 2014.

"Last year we had young players in those positions, so they will be a bit more experienced," he said. …
