SHELL shocked animal sanctuary staff almost called in Teenage Mutant Turtles after Tomalina the tortoise was snatched.

The theft of the 11-yearold was captured on CCTV and staff decided on people, rather than Hollywood turtle power to track her down.

Ouseburn Farm workers in Newcastle appealed on social media for her return and within 12 hours she r was back.

Tomalina was stretching her legs when she was snatched from her tortoise friends Doris and Boris at the farm.

Staff were concerned when they couldn't find her and hoped the Hermann tortoise would turn up unscathed the next day. When Tomalina remained undiscovered they appealed on social media for public help. Within hours, the story was shared over 50 times and viewed by many more.

Less than a day later the traumatised tortoise was reunited with her pals after being returned by Stocks person Richie Jameson, 28, said: "Thanks to people power it was shared so quickly we got her back hours later. …
