THE issue of mobile phone etiquette reared its head at Toowoomba Regional Council's Finance and Business Strategy Committee meeting.

A message was included at the beginning of the PowerPoint presentation warning the councillors to turn off their phones.

During a discussion on boundary anomalies, Cr John Gouldson's iPhone started ringing.

He frantically pushed buttons to silence his phone but to no avail.

Eventually he realised it was his other phone, to the mirth of the other councillors.

The too late mail

ALL punters have these stories. A group of lads gathered at their Toowoomba inn for the Saturday afternoon races and one had suggested that five of them pick one horse each and take a box trifecta.

That trifecta won and paid $150 but due to a protest (that didn't affect their winnings as they had the first four horses), the money was not forthcoming until later.

Seeing as they picked the first four in that race, the chairman of the board suggested the five of them pick one horse each and go for the first four in the next race.

Sure enough, the group scored the first four in that race too, which paid a handsome $3500.

Unfortunately, due to the protest and that late payment from the race before, the chairman hadn't put on their bet - which left his fellow team punters less than impressed.

No accounting for some

HE'S done it again.

A Toowoomba chap has been having trouble remembering the address of his "new" home into which he and his good wife moved about six months ago.

Not long after the move, he caught a taxi home from the pub one Friday evening.

Having trouble remembering his home's number, he walked along the street ahead of the car pressing his remote control roll-a-door garage key until, eventually, a garage door went up and he knew he was home.
