Owner Lets Fussy Cat Play a Large Part in 'Purr-Chase' of New Home

A PET cat has boosted the price offered for a Melbourne home by $140,000, but a cat was also the clincher in a real estate "purr-chase" on the Sunshine Coast.

After a story surfaced last week about buyers offering the vendors of a Melbourne home $140,000 more if they threw their cat into the deal, Stewart and Associates principal Vicki Stewart said a customer once turned to her cat to choose a house.

She said the customer had inspected two homes but was torn, so brought her cat back to view them both. "The cat purred in the first one but didn't purr in the second one, so she bought the first one."

But not all cats are shown the same niceties when it comes to real estate deals.

A Coast animal rescue worker said she had lost count of how many had been abandoned when homes had been sold or vacated. …
