New CQ Coach Hungry for Glory

ONEHUNGA Mata'uiau Esau (Oni) is taking the reins of rugby in Central Queensland.

CQ Brahmans Rugby Union is heading in a new direction next season with Onehunga announced as the 2015 senior Brahmans head coach.

Onehunga replaces David Holzl who stood down at the end of the 2014 season due to increasing work pressures. As a former captain of Manu Samoa (2000) and World Cup player (1999), Onehunga brings a wealth of experience both as a player and coach.

Over the past two years, Onehunga has coached at Queensland Country junior age levels as well as working closely with the senior CQ regional squad as assistant coach to Steve Anderson in the 2014 Queensland Country campaign.

Onehunga, who is also a member of the CQ Brahmans' newly-formed development panel designed to assist coach and player mentoring, was thrilled with his new role.

"I would like to use my extensive rugby experience, along with my leadership and organisation skills, to build up rugby in Central Queensland," Onehunga said. …
