Bigger Fish to Fry for X Factor Hopeful Lola

THE dream of North East fishmonger Lola Saunders to net one of TV's top prizes is still alive.

Lola, 20, the daughter of former Newcastle United player Wes Saunders, survived another public vote on ITV's the X Factor to get through to the next round.

She was one of 10 hopefuls who automatically went through, while band Only The Young and singer Jake Quickenden had to fight it out in a tense sing-off, which saw Quickenden go out.

It was nervy evening for supporters of Lola, including mum Tina, dad Wes, brother Harris from East Boldon, South Tyneside and boyfriend Jordan Rutter. For before the vote, judge Simon Cowell said he felt it was between Lola and Jake as to who would go last night's show.

However Lola's mentor, Geordie lass Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, was confident she would go through and correctly predicted Jake was for the chop, as did Louis Walsh, while Mel B thought it would be Stevi Ritchie. …
