Eskvale & Cleveland League LAST week was a good one for the away sides in the first round of the D and G Trophies League Challenge Cup.

Dormanstown routed fellow strugglers Lakes United 9-1 to book a home tie against Brotton Railway Arms in the second round, while Great Ayton eased into the next round with a 4-1 win at Loftus Athletic.

Darryl Rose grabbed a hat-trick for Great Ayton, with Jonathan Boal adding a fourth and Josh Elliott replying for Loftus.

Lingdale bossed hosting Hinderwell in their league fixture as they scored six times without reply to extend their lead at the top of the table.

There was another 6-0 league win as Lealholm completed the double over Brotton Railway Arms.

Brotton were denied a first minute opener by a fine Tobi Fergus save before Lee Brennan put Anthony Morgan through to open the scoring.

Brotton fought hard but their resistance wilted when Morgan headed home Tom Raw's cross to double Lealholm's advantage. …
