BRENDAN Kelly believes he is a "streaky" cricketer, performing well for periods of time but then finding it hard to get out of a rut.

That is good news heading into this weekend and the North Queensland Cricket Championships, with Kelly (pictured) coming off a 97 not out for Yaralla.

But the number four batsman is not letting the innings make him lazy, wanting to prove to himself and his teammates hard work is truly what pays off.

"I am a confidence player. It hurts when you get a few low scores in a row," he said.

"I have been thinking about it. I have a lot to prove to validate my spot in the Central Queensland team.

"If we win both of these games against Townsville and Far North, we win the comp, so that is my concern."

Kelly is not concerned about missing the individual milestone but would love to go one better and grab a century on order to help CQ to victory. …
