A COUPLE of Sundays ago I sort of knew I was going to have a weird day when I sprayed toilet deodorant under my arms after I had been to the dunny. That particular day was about a trip to Rainbow Beach to watch our nippers go around, and my roadie partner was Alex surf club's Alyssa Bull.

Young Bully and I had been on a trip away before and because she hated all my music, she had paired her phone to my car, and because I am technologically challenged I have never deleted it off the list.

So off to Rainbow we headed and within two minutes I am listening to some weird rap music obviously coming from old mate's phone.

The Rainbow carnival was a two-day event so I had told one of the team managers to ring me by "sevenish" if conditions were bad. So, as we happily went along, half singing and half talking mumbo jumbo, I was surprised to find that the road ended at the Tin Can Bay Yacht Club - we had missed the Rainbow turnoff. …
