Night Riding Proves Big Hit

MOTOCROSS: Night riding has proved a hit with motocross riders and spectators.

The Mackay and District Motocross Club put on a day-night meeting at the Riverside track, and it was a roaring success.

"It's good. It's something different and I'll definitely do it again," rider Luke Gottke said.

"It's just something different, we always compete in the normal day meetings, but under lights it's different and it's a little cooler.

"I like it because the visibility is a little different, too."

Another Clubman Lites rider, Steve Darmanin, rated the event as "excellent".

"I had an awesome time," he said.

"The volunteers put in an excellent job, the track was well watered and the lighting was good."

Proserpine riders Carl Goss and Ashley Norman took home the prize for the Top 10 shootout, Goss leading home his team-mate for the main prize.

Club president Shaun Lucas described the event as "just brilliant". …
