TWO animated drawings were acquired into the gallery's collection of contemporary Australian drawing through the Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award. The two works, A Dance for Paul Klee and Dance Study # 3, are the first digital drawings for the collection.

The drawings were created as an outcome of Todd's collaboration with choreographer Carl Sciberas. They work together under the name of Flatline to merge dance and drawing. They present their creative work in performances, films and exhibitions nationally and internationally.

Todd Fuller is a graduate of Sydney's National Art School and he works across sculpture, animation, drawing, painting and performance.

He has exhibited in New York, Rome, Seoul and Nottingham and has undertaken residencies to the Cite International Des Arts in Paris and the British School at Rome.

In 2012, Todd was awarded an honourable mention at the 15th Asian Art Biennale which was held in Bangladesh.

The first drawing A Dance for Paul Klee is a choreographic score forged from the logic of mark making after several drawing classes with a group of dancers. The dance was filmed on a beach and then articulated by a hand drawn transcription of itself. This results in art and dance augmenting one another.

Dance Study #3 aims to capture the ephemeral nature of dance in a permanent medium. The artist drew a series of 360 drawings on a single piece of paper to create the work. Each gestural sketch exists momentarily before erasure. The erasure results in traces left on the paper, it maps the body in motion.

The two drawings can be viewed on a monitor in the 2014 JADA exhibition, which is currently on display along with two other related exhibitions.
