HAVING struggled with health issues for many years, it is little wonder when asked what Toowoomba lacked Trevor Sprott's thoughts would turn to things medical.

Mr Sprott has spent lengthy periods in Toowoomba's hospitals and he has nothing but praise for the care of our medical staff.

"I owe a big thank-you to everyone involved in my rehabilitation at Toowoomba Hospital from the doctors and nurses to the people in the kitchen," he said.

"I'd like Toowoomba's politicians to spend a day shift or night shift with the nurses at the hospital so they can see just how much work they do.

"They're understaffed and overworked."

Mr Sprott has suffered some painful falls in recent times which prompted his suggestion of an addition to Toowoomba's ambulance fleet.

"Toowoomba really needs a bariatric ambulance for big people," he said.

"I've had a couple of falls and have had to go to hospital but I've had to wait for a bariatric ambulance to be brought up from Brisbane or the Gold Coast and that takes hours. …
