Women's Show Offers Fashion, Food, Beauty Tips; 400 Exhibits of Latest Trends Were on Display over 4-Day Run

Business was booming for Shelby Gogulski, 15, and her 10-year-old brother, Gordy, as customers crowded around their Snap jewelry booth Sunday - the final day of the 2014 Southern Women's Show at the Prime Osborn Convention Center.

Yourself Expression, an interchangeable accessories company founded by the two Jacksonville siblings six months ago, was among 400 exhibits at the four-day show featuring the latest trends and products. Tailored especially for women, the show featured shopping, fashion shows, cooking demonstrations, beauty tips, decorating ideas and personal growth opportunities.

The idea for their company took root, Shelby said, when she wanted a new pair of boots that were outside her parents' budget just because of a bow adorning the footwear. So the siblings made bows that Shelby could clip onto the back of the boots she was wearing at the time, giving them a fresh and fancy look. As she switched out the bows on her boots, the idea for an interchangeable jewelry collection and subsequent business were born, she told the Times-Union.

"I started this so I could go to Bishop Kenny. I pay my own tuition," said Shelby, a ninth-grader at the private high school, who eventually bought a new pair of boots. "We started off with 40 poppers and now we have over 800. I custom-design 60 percent of them."

Their company offers about 1,200 items including a ring locket, locket popper and mini charms featuring cute glass images as well as pretty crystals or stones with prices ranging from $3 to $22. The accessories are marketed toward people as well as pets.

"It's interchangeable jewelry. So you pick a base and then you pick your poppers. They just snap right into what you pick. We have rings, bracelets, necklaces," she said. "So you can buy one piece of jewelry and every single day express a different look. …
