Plan Ipswich visits

THE busy schedule of 37 consecutive days and nights of greyhound racing at Ipswich continues today with a twilight meeting.

Starting times for the meetings over the next five days are: Today 2.54pm; Tomorrow 6.03pm.; Sunday 4.21pm; Monday 6.46pm; Tuesday 2.57pm.

FIVE feature races are on tomorrow night's 10 event card at the Ipswich Showgrounds.

The meeting boasts four heats of the City of Ipswich Gold Cup and the final of the Corporate Dollars Challenge.

Last year's Cup winner Regal Lauryn is back to try and defend her title for owner Len Antonio and trainer Tony Brett.

Regal Lauryn also won last year's Lismore Cup in northern NSW.

This year's Lismore Cup winner Yogi Blue, for Yamanto's Peter O'Reilly, tackles an Ipswich Cup heat tomorrow night to try and emulate the double achieved by Regal Lauryn last year.

The Reg Kay trained Happy Haswell put in an outstanding Ipswich Cup trial in the "best eight'' there last Thursday, scorching around the 520 metres course in 30.37.

Happy Haswell was a good omen last week.

Kay named the dog after Graham "Hula'' Haswell, the Albion Park lure driver and marker up and microchipper of greyhounds in south-east Queensland.

It was Haswell's birthday last Thursday. And he was born in the Ipswich hospital, which is a little more than a stone's throw from the greyhound track.

Corporate challenge

THE Corporate Dollars Challenge is a $10,000 race comprising fourth and fifth grade greyhounds ,which qualified in heats last Saturday night. Each greyhound is running for a sponsor.

The winner will receive the signage rights to the Ipswich track's winning post for 12 months.

The field with their sponsors is: 1 Princess Canute (Green Frog Hollow), 2 Cornelia Jess (McNamara & Associates), 3 Victory Prince (White Rose Boarding Kennels), 4 Pikelet (Greg Sternberg Vet Surgeon), 5 Bago Kysam (Raincat Transport), 6 Bell's Plan (Big Dog Australia), 7 Spring Bonanza (Gatton Tyre Service), 8 Never Ever (Big Dog Racing Supplements). …
