Chef Takes Trip North to Serve Up Special Treat

MARCO Pierre White was in Newcastle yesterday to serve up the second course of a two-day treat for diners at his city centre restaurant.

The celebrity chef and restaurateur created a special menu for customers at his Steakhouse Bar & Grill at Hotel Indigo.

He sees the future of restaurants as being much more than what's on the menu.

"There's a buzz here and there's an element of glamour and romance," he said of the stylish surroundings, which have been designed to echo the famous Marco personality.

"I'm in the business of selling a night out; I'm not in the business of selling gastronomy.

"If we're really honest, when we go out for dinner it's about going out with family and friends."

The environment adds to the value of the night and if it isn't right "no matter how good the food is, you're not going back" he said. …
