BILLY Jones has cut a frustrated figure on the sidelines since his summer arrival at Sunderland.

Hamstring problems have restricted the former West Bromwich Albion defender to just four outings for the Black Cats - two of which came in the Capital One Cup - so far.

And after belatedly making his Premier League debut for his new club at the end of September, he has now been out of action for more than a month after suffering a fresh hamstring injury in a practice match.

But, while his injury agony goes on, Jones was delighted to see his teammates notch their first away win of the season at Crystal Palace this week and, in the process, end their 12-year wait for a Monday night win in front of the TV cameras.

"It's very frustrating being injured but when you are unable to help the lads on the pitch all you can hope for is that they win, so I was absolutely buzzing watching the game on Monday and I was made up that we got the three points," said the 27-year-old, who watched the win on TV, "It was also about what went with it because it was important to get our first away win of the season, and I also didn't know about the Monday night hoodoo, so that has been put to bed as well. …
