Royal Visit to Open New PS50m Hospital

THE Countess of Wessex was all smiles as she offi-cially opened a new PS50m hospital in the North East for people with mental health problems.

Her Royal Highness Sophie was at Hopewood Park Hospital in Sunderland yesterday where she was greeted by staff and pupils from nearby St Paul's CE Primary School.

Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust chairman Hugh Morgan Williams welcomed the royal guest as she was introduced to those involved in the hospital's construction and those involved in providing care at the site.

Mr Williams said: "We were delighted to welcome Her Royal Highness to Hopewood Park to see our new development, meet our dedicated staff and learn about the specialist services we provide.

"Hopewood Park is an exciting chapter in our Trust's history and I am pleased so many of those who have been involved in its design have been able to share this special day with us. …
