RUGBY LEAGUE: Magpies were arguably one of the Auscoal Super Cup's biggest underachievers this year, having missed out on finals footy with one of the most promising young squads in the competition.

But 2015 will be different according to recently appointed coach Mick Nielsen.

Nielsen's been charged with the duty of leading the club into next year's finals series, and believes the club's vision for the club will make it a strong force.

"It's about being more competitive, their attitude with training, their respect for the club and their team-mates - just a different culture," Nielsen said.

"My job is to earn their respect and have all our players wanting to play for each other and play for the club, which is all I've ever done.

"Our goal is to have all grades in the semi-finals and hopefully we might go a few weeks further.

"There's a new thing this year called the club championship as well, so we've got that in mind. …
