Toon Kit's a Big Hit with the Boot Boys of Malawi

A KIDS' football team in Malawi has been kitted out with Newcastle United strips thanks to the generosity of a Toon fan.

Doug Doig, of Forest Hall, was compelled to donate head-to-toe strips and football boots to the kids after he saw pictures of them playing football with only one boot each.

Doug, 58, who has lived in Cambridge for 33 years with wife Lorraine, saw the pictures by chance when his business printed the newsletter for Aqauaid Lifeline Fund - a charity that helps children in Milawi.

After inquiring why the children were only wearing one football boot, he was told that kids who were leftfooted would receive a boot for their left foot, while those who were rightfooted would be given one to play in for their right foot.

Doug, who was a NUFC season ticket holder for four years, said: "I was choked up about it when I saw the photographs.

"I look at this and think there's no point in moaning. …
