GDSC Easts Cricket Club may have lost to GI Hotel Tucabia-Copmanhurst at McKittrick Park but they avoided being hit out of the oval for an outright victory

Easts captain Tim White said they were improving after a shaky start to the season.

"Tucabia-Copmanhurst had a 30-run lead in the first innings," White said

"It was a lot closer than everyone thought it would be.

"We got there in the end. We had a couple of boys that hung in there and did the job for us.

"We are improving week to week. After the pretty bad start to the season we had I think the whole team is pretty happy with how we are going."

Also at the weekend, Brothers just came over the top of Westlawn with 24 runs to spare at Ellem Oval.

Chasing Brothers' 218, Westlawn were dismissed for 194 with Mitch Kroehnert claiming three wickets late to seal the win.

"It was a pretty good win because Westlawn are a pretty strong team," Kroehnert said.

"It was a tight game so it was good to come away with the points. …
