A BORN carer has started on a direct path to her chosen career early on in life.

Jeannine Kambere from Bellingen High School has been working as a school-based trainee, with pay, one day a week at RFBI Bellorana Masonic Village in Bellingen for her last two years of high school.

As part of her traineeship Jeannine has also attended North Coast TAFE each week and finishes Year 12 this year with a Certificate III in Aged Care.

"I want to become a nurse because that's the type of person I am," Jeannine said.

"I love caring for people and I am the eldest in my family, which makes me have that heart. It's something I've always been interested in and wanted to do."

Jeannine said she talked to her career adviser at school, who connected her with Directions Plus, which then found her the traineeship at Bellorana.

"When I go to university and when I want to get a job, it will be so much easier, because I have this experience. …
