For the first time, a Teesside academy has been transformed into a winter wonderland.

Complete with festive donkey rides, an ice skating rink, dozens of artists, designers and craftspeople as well as musical performances and a Winterland fun area, The King's Academy, in Stainton Way, Coulby Newham, was very much into the festive spirit.

Around 2,500 people visited the festival and all proceeds from the event will be donated to the academy's charities: The Great North Air Ambulance, Butterwick Hospice and Uhuru Ministries in Kenya.

Assistant vice principal Carey Brownless said: "This is the first time we have held a winter festival and Christmas craft fair and we're pulling out all the stops to make it a fabulous festive event for staff, students and their families and the wider community.

"We normally do a summer festival which is always successful and so, this year, we decided to hold a Christmas festival as well. Parents and staff have pulled together - everyone in the community has helped. …
