THE body of a man shot dead by police at Tewantin last weekend remains in the morgue because of a family dispute about where he should be laid to rest.

Edward Wayne Logan's brother Don and their parents want to send his body to his homeland of New Zealand for a traditional Maori farewell.

But the family say their plans are in disarray because Mr Logan's de facto of six years refuses to release the body to them.

Mr Logan, 51, was fatally shot by police on Outlook Dr, Tewantin, last Sunday.

He had reportedly gone on a violent rampage during a family get-together at his son's house.

The Logan family had funeral directors on standby to pick up Mr Logan's body from the morgue once the coroner's report was released yesterday.

He was to be repatriated to New Zealand for a memorial service on Tuesday but the family were forced to put those plans on hold.

Jody Logan, speaking on behalf of her husband, Don, and his family, said Mr Logan's partner had told them she wanted to hold the funeral in Melbourne where they lived. …
