RHYS Evans spent years working towards a senior Queensland boxing title, but in the end it took him only two minutes to claim.

In the final last weekend, Evans knocked out his opponent in Brisbane, and a smile immediately spread across his face.

"It was awesome. I was pretty happy. I cheered and had a smile on my face," he said.

"I am still just so happy with myself. I am happy with how hard I have trained to do it."

After a number of disappointments in the past, including finishing runner-up last year, Evans has taken his training to a new level in the past 12 months.

Ten years into his boxing career, it is the biggest moment the Gladstone boxer has ever experienced.

Now he is planning a raid on higher levels.

"I have got the Queensland titles again in March and they are for the Australian titles (qualification) in April," he said.

"They are picking the Oceania team from that. I want the Aussie title, but we will start with Queensland again. …
