Italian Flavour to Art on King

A TOUCH of Italy came to King St on Friday evening as guests enjoyed the opening festivities of Art on King, inspired by the relaxed and sociable Italian traditions.

Known for her strong community presence, local artist Sue Keong has teamed up with Jill Birtwistell to bring a new culturally enriching experience to the city.

A member of the Warwick Artists Group and the Warwick Potters Association, Mrs Keong has painted in her living room for many years and said Art on King was the perfect studio to allow her passion to grow, and share it with others.

"As every man needs a shed, every girl needs a studio," she said.

"Our aim is to create a space where people can drop in for a chat and enjoy the art on display. We will be open from Tuesday to Saturday and are planning to hold workshops and exhibitions to share our knowledge and love of art."

The Italian-themed official opening of Art on King was inspired by Mrs Keong's recent trip to Lucignano in Tuscany where she participated in a two-week workshop with Australian artist Kasey Sealy. …
