POOLWERX Clarence Valley has moved to town. Richard Torrens, along with his wife Kathryn and their two young children have relocated from Gunnedah, and are proud to call Yamba their new home.

Richard grew up in Gunnedah working in the family run pump and irrigation business where he began his apprenticeship as a fitter/machinist.

For the past nine years he worked for State Water as the maintenance fitter for Keepit, Chaffey and Split Rock dams before taking on the role of storage custodian at Split Rock Dam where he was in control of water delivery for irrigators.

So for one reason or another, he has pretty much always been working with water.

"I wanted to start my own business to help secure my financial future but it had to be doing something that I enjoy, and something I could see myself doing long-term," Richard said.

"While I really enjoyed the technical nature of my previous job, there was limited opportunity for growth.

"That's when I found Poolwerx, and since then have had extensive training to bring my skills up to scratch with the latest technology in pool maintenance. …
