Pardew Is Deserving of Award - but Arsenal Tough One

ALAN PARDEW'S prize of Barclays Manager of the Month is fully deserved.

When you look back to the start of the season and consider the pressure he was under, it is a remarkable feat.

But it shows that in football things can change - and quickly sometimes.

Alan has proved he is a good manager because the results he has been getting are outstanding.

Chelsea were unbeaten last week-weekend and to get a win against them is a fantastic achievement.

Newcastle are in a good position in the Premier League going into the Arsenal game and re-assessing targets has been mentioned this week. For me, every year the target should be top 10 or looking to get into Europe.

The Europa League is definitely a target this season.

Newcastle are a big enough club to be in that and should be setting themselves that target. The Champions League is probably a step too far at the moment.

I think the Europa League is a possibility though and they have proved it with the results they've been getting.

I am worried a little bit about the Arsenal game.

I'll be doing some studio work for Danish TV for the game.

And I know Newcastle have Moussa Sissoko and Steven Taylor missing and they are two massive players.

Plus we have the goalkeeper situation as well now.

Taylor and Fabricio Coloccini did a fantastic job against a team like Chelsea.

Arsenal create so many chances so this game will be a real test for Newcastle.

It'll be a tough one. That said you can catch Arsenal off-guard.

Getting something at the Emirates would keep Newcastle in touch with the European spots and that's where a club like Newcastle should aim.

The Europa League is worth winning, plus this season you get that Champions League place.

However, it's not easy and it's a long road to the final.

There are group games at the start and it's a long, long tournament. …
