CRICKET: Shaun Marsh is set to be the beneficiary of Michael Clarke's injury woes, with the Western Australian called into Australia's squad for the second Test against India at the Gabba, starting on Wednesday.

Left-arm paceman Mitchell Starc has also been called in, with Peter Siddle's spot in doubt after a modest return in Adelaide and a poor tour of the UAE.

The Australian selectors would no doubt be tempted by the extra bounce Starc could generate from what should be a juicy Gabba wicket, after recent rain in Brisbane.

Starc and fellow New South Wales paceman Josh Hazlewood, who was 12th man in the first Test, loom as possible replacements for Siddle. Veteran Queensland paceman Ryan Harris could also be be rested, with the 35-year-old only recently back from knee surgery and bowling 40 overs in the first Test in Adelaide.

Marsh has scored two centuries in this season's Sheffield Shield competition and will likely assume a middle-order role alongside his brother Mitch while Clarke is sidelined with another hamstring issue. …
