WE HAVE debated for years about how to cook the perfect steak and in Easy Eating we have tried to give you the best advice on how to do just that.

While the cut of meat is the priority, getting it cooked just the way you and your guests like it can be a frustrating guessing game.

With that in mind I was looking forward to test driving the Tefal OptiGrill.

In a way it's a miniature barbecue and if you live in a small unit where a big barbecue is a no go, it's an ideal cooking appliance to have in your arsenal.

Instead of hovering over a large frypan looking for the telltale signs that the meat is cooked right on one side before flipping it over, the OptiGrill cooks both sides at once. Nothing special in that, it's how the appliance lets you know to what degree the meat is cooked that is the winner.

That is simply by way of coloured lights as the meat cooks the cooking level indicator changes colour. …
