YOU have to love the exuberance of youth.

Watching the jubilation on the face of Marnus Labuschagne on day two of the Gabba Test, after he pulled off the catch of the summer by a short-leg fieldsman (pictured), reminded everyone why you play the game.

For those priceless moments when everything works out just right.

Marnus is a champion young bloke and a very promising player for the Queensland Bulls. He's cheeky and fiercely competitive and will love being in the contest as one of the substitute fielders for Australia.

He and his Redlands teammate Sam Heazlett (another good 'un to watch) and wise-cracking all-rounder Andrew Gode, would have been revelling in their call to arms to act as the replacement fielding platoon after the Aussies were scorched on day one.

What is it about the Gabba and subs?

Last year's effort by Chris Sabburg was pretty special ... and they reckon the ones by Ryan Broad a few years ago was pretty handy. …
