GET that pot of coffee ready, Gympie, because today is one of the biggest days in the lead-up to Christmas.

This morning, Victory Care Services is holding its annual food giveaway.

This evening Nelson Reserve is the setting for the Santa Fair and Combined Churches Carols in the Park.

Victory Church community pastor Kev Dailly said his band of festive volunteers was ready yesterday for this morning's big giveaway.

An impressive 80 pallets of food have been sourced, thanks to the sponsorship of Gympie businesses, the Queensland Food Bank and a network of loyal Brisbane suppliers.

MR DAILLY said the quantity of food this year exceeded last year's total of 60 pallets.

"This is definitely a lot more this year," he said.

"There has been more support this year so the giveaway is growing and getting bigger."

The food giveaway includes pantry items in addition to fresh fruit and vegetables.

This year, Victory Care Services has been able to expand its offering of fresh fruit and vegetables. …
