MY lawn is something I try to take quite seriously - but only to a certain point.

At times during the winter I'll let it have a bit of a drink with my mobile watering device and I'll throw a bit of fertiliser its way a couple of times a year as well.

But still I end up with a lawn full of weeds and brown-looking bits of grass. It drives me nuts.

All through this past winter we lived in a bit of dust bowl and the mower only came out about once every three weeks to get rid of those pesky stalks that just seem to grow while nothing else does.

I found myself forever having to clean out the air filter on the mower; such was the level of dust we endured.

Then, a week or so ago we got a couple of good downpours of rain.

I missed mowing the lawn for I think it was just one weekend, it may have been two, and on Saturday I knew it was time. …
