A NEWS business offering joy flights and commercial aerial work over Hervey Bay has received a mixed reaction.

Residents have phoned the Chronicle complaining about Compass Helicopters flights passing over their homes and what they describe as noise pollution.

One resident was annoyed at being woken up at 10am each morning to the sound of the helicopter.

On the flipside, the helicopters have received a warm welcome from others, with several posting positive comments about the new venture on social media.

Hervey Bay mum Kerrie Alexander said she was happy there were helicopters in Hervey Bay skies.

"I love the helicopters flying over my house - my little two-year-old runs out to the yard to point at the sky each time they fly over," Mrs Alexander said.

Compass Helicopters recently started selling tourism scenic flight tours in Hervey Bay.

Fraser Coast Mayor Gerard O'Connell said the business had been given a permit to use the Seafront Oval Extension for a trial period of 13 days spread across December and January. …
