Young, Jackson Agree on Toowoomba Title Showdown in March

TOOWOOMBA boxer "Iron" Will Young has begun the new year on a high with confirmation he'll defend his Australian title against Tasmanian dynamo Luke Jackson in March.

Young's trainer-manager Brendon Smith yesterday confirmed the deal had been signed and delivered.

Jackson will challenge Young for his Australian featherweight championship at Rumours International on March 14.

Young claimed the title belt with a unanimous point's victory over Emanuel Micallef in Toowoomba last July. This will be his first title defence.

Jackson is one of the rising stars of Australian boxing.

His amateur career included captaining the 2012 London Olympics boxing team and a bronze medal win at the 2006 Commonwealth Games.

The 30-year-old has an unblemished record in seven professional fights with three knockout wins.

Jackson's latest victory was a unanimous eight-round point's decision last month over Ruben Manakane in Melbourne. …
