DON'T be afraid to go out on a limb: that is where the fruit is. Over the years different fruits have lent their names to the digital era, Apple, Blackberry and now Raspberries. Scots PGC College has welcomed Raspberry Pi's into the curriculum as part of the new Digital Technologies strand associated with the new National Curriculum Technology.

This semester the Year 8s have started the process of learning how to code, utilising the online resource Codecademy to learn how to programme their Raspberry Pi's. Greg Wacker, Head of Department - Design and Technology explains "The raspberry pi is a small credit card sized computer that uses lines of code to programme it. Many people will remember having to enter in lines of code to programme their VIC 20 or Commodore 64 to perform a task, this is very similar but we can access the internet to help us. This makes the process more user friendly. There are many projects that students will be able to code and make, from swipe card door openers, printer servers, help desk screens and robotic programming. …
