GARY Wait stared at the hunched figure stepping out of the fog onto the road.

He zoomed in and played with the light of the photo to make sure his computer was not playing tricks on him.

As he increased the light, the figure became clear, a man in a hat stepping on the road, seemingly held up by shattered limbs.

Mr Wait wrestled his jeans pocket for his phone to call his friend.

Three rings in, his friend answered.

"We didn't see anyone on the Pacific Hwy near Harwood that morning you were driving me to Lennox did we?"

"No, I don't think so," his friend replied.

"We would remember someone stepping on the road. We would have said, who is that idiot on the road, wouldn't we?" Mr Wait said.

"Yes Gary, that sounds about right. What's the deal with this guy on the road?"

"I think I've photographed a ghost."

While moving house between Coffs Harbour and Lennox Head two years ago, Mr Wait started snapping photos in the early morning fog. …
