Maclean CWA Kitchen Is Set for a Renovation

THERE is an art to making the perfect batch of scones, and one family in Maclean has it down pat.

Three generations of the Skinner family, Leonie, Kerri and Olivia, aged between seven and 60, have been sharing secret scone recipes as members of the Maclean CWA.

And those scones are about to get a whole lot better because of a successful grant application with Community Programs to renovate their old kitchen.

"The Maclean CWA moved into the present building in 1956, so yes, it is time it saw a little bit of renovation," club president Leonie Skinner said.

"The money will go to renovating the kitchen and building the front entrance so the building complies with industry standards regarding accessibility and usability of the kitchen facility.

"It is all very exciting."

The group has previously received funding to fix the disabled toilets.

The CWA was in full cooking action on Saturday morning as part of the MacMarkets in Maclean CBD. …
