FORMER Newcastle United striker Gavin Peacock has been criticised after a string of bizarre and sexist messages on Twitter. T The ex-Magpies star, who played 105 times for the club between 1990 and 1993, is now a pastor in the Canadian city of Calgary.

And on Tuesday he T posted a series of quasireligious tweets saying that women should "submit" to their husbands.

"Husbands: one of your primary duties in loving your wife is to feed her with the Word of God daily," he said.

"Wives: one of the primary ways you are to respect your husband is by gladly submitting to and encouraging his leadership.

"God's divine design for marriage in male headship and female submission is complementary not competitive."

Hundreds of social media users hit back at the comments, saying they were "sexist" and "outdated."

Liz Luff, who does PR for R foR the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation called the 47-year-old, who netted 35 times for Newcastle before moving to Chelsea, a "moron. …
