OLYMPIC 1,500 metres semi-finalist Ross Murray will attempt to make up for lost time on Saturday when he lines up in two events in Holyrood Park, the venue of the Great Edinburgh Cross-Country International.

The 24-year-old Gateshead Harrier has had a lean two years since the Olympics due to illness and injury but he travels to Scotland in a bid to berace fit in time for a shot at making the Beijing World Championships in the summer.

The Wallsend-born athlete will take his chance in a new event on the programme, an international mixed relay where he will team up with England Commonwealth Games steeplechase representative Racheal Bamford for the 2x1k contest.

Around an hour and a half hour later Murray, whose last competitive outing was in the European Trials in Liverpool in November where he finished 24th, is taking a gamble before contesting the Invitation 4k event. He said: "I think it will do me the power of good doing both events after being sidelined for so long.

In the 4k Murray will be joined by Gateshead teammate Chris Parr - though the contest is expected to again be dominated by African athletes, including Kenya's twice world 1,500m champion Asbel Kiprop and 2013 world crosscountry champion Japheth Korir. …
