THE Citz continue to carry the flag for the Redcar Sunday League in the North Riding Sunday County Cup as they came from behind to beat JFC United.

Hosting JFC opened the scoring, but Phil Hudson equalised before the break before scoring what proved to be the winner with 20 minutes to go.

However, there was disappointment for Grangetown as they bowed out of the competition with a 6-3 loss to Scarborough side, Trafalgar.

League action saw Clarendon Hotel move back into third place with a rampant 12-2 win over bottom side Middlesbrough Homeless.

Homeless opened the scoring early on, but Clarendon gradually got into the game and went into the break 3-1 ahead.

Visiting Clarendon took control from the start of the second half, with Isam Benoram scoring seven, Andrew Pollock two and Mark Banks, Joe Canwell and Gary Sharples also on target.

Elsewhere, Redcar Rugby Club moved up two places with a 5-0 win over Cleveland Hotel.

Jamie Graham scored four times, with Paul Curry adding the fifth, as Rugby Club leapfrogged their rivals. …
