IPSWICH products Joe Ofahengaue and Brett Greinke were part of the Brisbane Broncos under 20s team that lost the National Youth Competition grand final against Auckland Warriors.

Ofahengaue was later named the competition's best and fairest for 2014.

It was not the end of the season for either however, as they were both picked in the Australian under 20 side to play New Zealand.

Unfortunately they were on the wrong side of the ledger against the Kiwis once again, but both marked themselves as NRL first grade players of the near future.

"It's been a great year and I've got to move forward now," he said.

"I was shocked to be player of the year.

"There's a lot of standout players in our competition."

BEFORE making a name for himself for state and country, Andy Bichel learned his cricketing trade on the pitches around Ipswich.

So in some ways it was completing the circle when the former Australian selector and current bowling coach of the Chennai Super Kings took up a short term coaching role with the Ipswich Logan Hornets.

The Hornets have struggled to win games this summer but Bichel believes they will flow more steadily in time. …
