Youth Policy Set to Serve Well; Ipswich Hosting State under 18 Carnival This Week

WITH three under 13 players in the squad the Ipswich under 18s girls are probably long-shots to take out the Queensland Division Two basketball titles at Ipswich this week.

But don't try telling them that.

Belief is high the underdog home team can shock the state as Ipswich hosts the Under 18 Division Two state titles for boys and girls.

They will do it with three under 13 players in their team, but that does not deter them.

The three, Alyssa Simmons, Riley McGill and Gillian Togia have all proved themselves capable against the older girls.

The Ipswich team is currently sitting third in the Basketball Queensland Junior Basketball Competition (BQJBC) Southern Cup competition, with the three youngsters an integral part.

As the season has progressed they have steadily improved, to the point captain and guard Jada Schultz believes they can win the state title.

"We're looking really good," Schultz said. …
