Arthamint Looks Cool One to Be On

LUDLOW bumper winner Arthamint can make a winning start over jumps on his return to the track for the Rincon Del Puerto National Hunt' Maiden Hurdle today.

The seven-year-old finished out with the washing in a couple of bumpers last spring, but the fitting of a tongue-tie brought about considerable improvement as he finished a fair fourth on his seasonal return at Huntingdon in November.

He took another step forward to win as he liked at this track last month and the form received a decent boost when the beaten oddson favourite, Outrath, came out and won at Lingfield later in the month.

If he lifts a leg, Arthamint has every chance of providing the upwardly mobile Dan Skelton with yet another winner.

Keys is a very interesting contender in the Call Star Sports On 08000 521 321 Maiden Hurdle at Plumpton. Smart on the level for Roger Charlton, he joined Nicky Henderson for a hurdling campaign and while winless, he showed a decent level of ability to finish second to two smart types in Cinders And Ashes and Super Duty.

The problem is he has not been seen since the last of those in February 2012, but he remains in the same ownership.

He has left Henderson to join Tony Carroll and while over 1000 days on the sidelines is not ideal, the fact he is coming back suggests he retains some ability and it should be enough to win this.

Michael Appleby has his string firing on all cylinders at the moment and can add to his tally with Mops Angel in the Ladbrokes Handicap at Wolverhampton.

The Stratford-based trainer became an increasingly potent force in 2014 and that momentum has continued into the early part of this year, with the yard having already racked up 14 winners on the Flat in January ahead of the latest fixture at Dunstall Park.

Mops Angel, a four-year-old daughter of Piccolo, made an encouraging start to her career a couple of years ago, building on a promising debut fourth in the Brocklesby at Doncaster with victory at Beverley, but results have been mixed since. …
